About Alex Charvat

Alex Charvat is a co-founder of Timber Technology Network, now part of TimberLogic LLC as well as the founding member and engineer behind Alexander Structures. A Wisconsin native, currently residing in Colorado, he pursued degrees (BS Forestry 1996, MS Structural Engineering 2000) from the University of Wisconsin Madison. Alex maintains Professional Engineer licenses in Wisconsin and Colorado and is the Engineer of Record for the Log Home Council’s Log Design Stress Values. He has engineered all types and sizes of log home designs throughout the U.S with experience in both full (hand-crafted and milled) and half-log designs. He has personally built both his own log cabin and log house – he is an engineer with true construction experience.

Prior to founding Alexander Structures, Alex’s experience included:
• 2 years at the USDA Forest Service Forest Products Lab in Madison, Wisconsin
• 2 years as a forester in Coos Bay, Oregon
• 2 years managing the engineering and design team for a Wisconsin based log home company.
